You have to make teams and join one of the public leagues. The Auld World League will allow you to challenge each other directly - but challenges won't count towards your teams rank - meaning your record will remain 0-0-0 no matter how many times you play each other.Only matchmaking - which will pit you against others randomly - will allow you to advance at all. Its fine to play your buddies a bit in the Auld league but you won't get much out of it if that's all you do. Once you're comfortable with the idea I'd suggest joining up with one of the many private leagues since its a good laugh and you'll end up learning more.

Like all great games, Blood Bowl is quick and easy to learn but tough to master. A game of strategy and daring, it rewards frequent practice. The more you drill your team and develop your playbook, the more tactics you'll be able to deploy, and the greater your victories will be. With hard work, grit and perseverance you too can be a championship winning coach.
