I bought a Hedstrom two years ago for my 3 yo daughter. I shoppedalot and spent an unusual amount of time consider what options Iwanted on the set. I first decided to go with a metal hedstrom versusa wooden everything set, because I wanted a swingset in my backyard,not a playground.I love the Hedstrom I eventually got. It is the eight legged kind andfrom left to right has:a six foot slideA frame legsA swinging two seat see sawA molded plastic swingA molded plactic swingTwo sets of legs that are monkey bars about 9 feet highA lawn gliderA frame legsThe only draw back of this set was the six foot slide, I really wantedone at eight feet.I love the molded plastic swings. The sling swings that come withother sets should be outlawed, they are so uncomfortable.

And havingtwo of them is wonderful because I took one off and put the baby swingon. At age three when she was just learned how to stay on a seatswing, she could enjoy her new swing set right away with the babyswing. Even though I have no other children the baby swing is stillon so my families children can swing. It's also a great place for mydaughters dolls.The monkey bars are great. For the past two years, she would climbthe ladder.

The first year she wasn't anywhere near reaching theoverhead bars, last year she could reach, but wouldn't do it. At age5 she's just getting the control to do monkey bars.The lawn swing - this is the greatest feature. It is big enough forme (an average size woman) to use. It is wonderful for me to havesomeplace to sit (and swing). At her young age, I have to be outthere with her and the lawn swing makes it pleasant.

We sit on itafter work and have snack together. I can envision her sitting therewith a friend 5 years from now.I loved the combination of the components on this set and it hasworked out great and appears it will last a good amount of years. Ialso loved that it was metal and in nice subdued colors. One of myneighbors has a bright blue/yellow plastic thing. They didn'tconsider the color until they had it all together and now they hateit. I waited and waited and waited to get a good price.

It wasregularly $229.00 and the weekend of her third birthday, it went onsale for $169.00. My husband went out to get it. If you don't have apickup truck, you'll have to have it delivered as it weights about 250pounds. Our son didn't show any interest in a swing set until now, and he's 2.5.When he was one, we bought the Little Tikes small playhouse at a yardsale, and he thoroughly enjoyed playing in it, especially peek-a-boothrough the shuttered windows.
