Note that you will level faster if you spend as much time in the solo-play instances as possible. This walkthrough is detailed and from the standpoint of a Rogue class character. Although there are several minor changes between the Rogue and other classes in the Destiny Quest line, the quests are basically the same with only small alterations. You will be able to use this walkthrough no matter which class you choose.Levels 1-5 The first 5 levels are the tutorial levels. It is a simple solo play adventure with a storyline depicting your rescue from the sea and your run through the jungle to the city of Tortage.

In addition to a full copy of the main game, the Collector's Edition of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures includes a DVD video, the game's soundtrack on CD, a book of artwork from the game's development, a map, and two in-game items, a ring that gives characters experience point enhancements and a cape that allows them free drinks in Hyborian.

At times your screen will be flooded with 'Help me' buttons.Every male (no matter how old) will likely make a female toon avatar and disrobe her just to see what the 'M' rating is all about. Just do it, get it over with, and let's move on.You're on the beach. You are given a big old 2-handed oar to paddle your enemies with. Your first Quest NPC, Casilda, is straight ahead.

Speak with her. She honestly sounds stoned to me, but I’ll chock that up to sun exposure. She wants you to kill a ‘scavenger’ who imprisoned her. He's right behind you. Turn back to the beach and go to your left. Kill him and take the KEY.

Return to Casilda and free her for your reward. And what's your reward from this scantily clad stoned female? She will follow you for the next 5 levels without offering any help except to be your personal MMO Cheerleader. Honestly, she ought to give you her +3 PomPoms. With your cheerleader in tow (you don’t have to do anything else with her, so she is technically your pet), head into the jungle. As soon as you enter go to the left and then to the right of where Casilda was held captive and kill the mini-bosses.

Mini-bosses are no tougher than regular mobs. They just have a title and are generally 1 level above their peers. But they are not epic. A lot of people miss these guys, but don’t; they have good beginning armor and weapons.Understand that with your big old oar you can easily take on 3 mobs at a time. Do not be cautious or timid here. Was Conan timid? No, he was not.

So break their necks! The arrows in your hotbar allow for left, right, or overhead attacks. You’ll see shields on your opponent which demonstrate where his or her defenses are placed. At this stage of the game, and for most of the remainder of the first 20 levels, it doesn’t matter a bit where you aim! Just mash the 1, 2 and 3 buttons, keeping your opponent in front of you.

1,2,3 and 1,2,3 he’s dead. 1,2,3 she’s dead. 1,2,3 and 1, 2, 3 the pet panther is dead. Who the heck keeps a pet panther, anyway?OK, after that the path forward follows pretty much a straight line through the jungle, which you can see on your mini-map.

This path is lined with Pillagers, Poachers and Picts. In fact, if it doesn’t start with a letter 'P,' it's not your enemy! Slash your way through the jungle with your big oar and your righteous fury against the letter 'P.'

The mobs come in groups of 2-3 and can easily be beaten. You may find a 1H weapon here or there, but the big old oar is all you’ll need. If you want to go dual-wield, feel free. Remember that the standard MMO kill order applies in AoC. Kill casters first, ranged DPS second, and melee last. You made it to Saddur. Saddur is your former slavemaster and built like a washed-up professional wrestler. When you approach him, you enter a quest storyline.

Speak with him a bit. He can't get through the gate because he lost the key. At the end of the scene, he will attack. By this time, you are likely level 3 and this guy will fall easily.

He usually drops a good weapon (good being relative to a level 3 character). However, to get through the gate you need to turn left and bum rush the Picts. The Pict village is nice.

Remember to look in the side huts for more NPCs to kill, as well as the chests to loot. Midway through on the left side is a mini-boss. For barbarians and fighters he drops a bow; other classes may receive other equipment.

The main thing is that you now have a way to range pull if you’re a melee class. Take some time out to practice with the bow, and concentrate especially on learning how to swap out of the bow and into your melee weapons ( Shift-R). Head to the demons area at the end of the pict village. Kill the demons to the side first (and collect the chest in the demon circle), then head to the boss. Behind the demon boss is a stone chest. Click it to retrieve the key. Then return to the Gate (Where you parked Saddur’s carcass).

YHou can click the gate to watch it rise. Please, please appreciate the impaled skeleton as it rises up as well. I know I did! This is the last leg of the jungle.

Your enemies now are Apes. However, you’ll find that these guys have a few more hit points and their names don’t start with ‘P.' Undaunted, you can still easily kill them 2 at a time. Three may be a challenge, however. Follow the path to the Ape King (his mom must be so proud) and kill him. Don’t cross the bridge yet, though, because there is a chest to the right that is guarded by 2 apes. Kill them and retrieve the treasure it contains.

Then cross the bridge and head to the gates.Your cheerleader now leaves you, and you can head into the main Tortage Zone.Time to completion: about 15 minutes (in fact, you probably lost time reading this).Levels 6-10 This zone is multiplayer, so you will see other players run to and fro. PvP server players still cannot be attacked in the Tortage zone, but otherwise that's not true. This is a great time to adjust your graphics if you haven't already done so.

The jungle you just finished may seem nice enough, but the Tortage area is a real GPU hog. Set your video controls so that you can easily move about Tortage with a good framerate. If you have a decent framerate here, you’ll be fine for the majority of the rest of the game.Run down to the main gate of Tortage and speak with the guard, Laranga. He says 'No way!' Now go to Turach, whom you passed on the way to the main Tortage Gate. He sends you on a quest to get some blocks. Head down the road and kill Pirates (again with the letter 'P').

Those enemies are level 5 and die quickly, meaning you can easily take them on 2 or 3 at a time, but they can and will re-spawn if you stay in one area for too long. Keep killing them, as they drop level 5-9 armor and weapons.

Get yourself a nice set and then move to the back where the glowing blocks of stone are located. When you get there, an invisible demon will attack you and appear (yes, he’s meant to be invisible; it's not a bug). Kill it and get 3 blocks, which you should take back to Turach. With the blocks now in your possession, your slave chains are cut and you will be allowed through the gates and into Tortage, plus receive a quest from the love-struck Laranga. As soon as you go through the gates, enter the first building on your right. That is the Thirsty Dog Inn. The bar there will be your main base of operations for the next 15 levels.

Sorry guys; no bar fights here! Inside you will find your Class trainer. Go and speak with him or her and begin your destiny quest line.As I mentioned above, your destiny quest line is a solo part of the game.

Because of server crowding, PvP server ganking, and the fact that you must complete this quest line in order to leave and move on in the game, I recommend leveling as much as possible in solo play as possible. Talk to your trainer and choose the Tortage: Nighttime. As soon as you zone into Tortage night, the first thing you ought to do is sell extra items!

Inventory space is way too limited early in the adventure. There is a vendor in the bar, just down the stairs, so sell everything you won’t need. Talk to your class trainer again, as well. This time, you’ll be off to find the old Sage ‘Nadini’.In the night time instance, there are a few roaming level-20 guards. Don’t worry about them, as they don’t aggro. Move through the streets towards Nadini’s house. Be sure to wave to the harlots on the balconies above!

Speak with Nadini, and return to visit your class trainer. This happens a lot. Be prepared to spend a lot of time running back and forth to your trainer.Learning to SneakYou are now sent to meet Arias in the Harbor.

This is an exercise in learning how to sneak. It’s a good time to look at your abilities.

Open up your Abilities tab and you’ll see several abilities with points to spend in each. These include:. Bandage: Increases HP regeneration (out of combat). Recovery: Increase Stamina regeneration with the REST ability. Sprint: Lowers the stamina cost from sprinting. Run Speed: Increase your normal movement speed.

Climbing Skill: Beanstalk required. Hiding Skill: Increase chance to avoid detectionLater on (once you reach level 10), you’ll also gain more abilities that are class-specific.For level 1-20, I suggest that you put points into the Stealth and Climbing ability disciplines. The rest don’t really have a significant gameplay effect until upper level play. Hit CTR-Left click to maximize Hiding and Climbing. The rest of your points can go into whichever category you like. Now, activate the hiding skill and WOOSH! (seriously, you go WOOSH), you are now hiding.

Movement while hidden takes stamina for every class except rogues. Non-rogues should only use it close to the location where they’ll need its effects. Also, take a look at your light meter. It’s the small diamond at the bottom of your mini-map. It tells you how lit an area is. The lighter the diamond, the tougher it is to hide and remain hidden.OK, head off to the harbor to meet Arias. Use the mini-map to find your way.

When you see the ships, I suggest that you start hiding. You’ll go under a large boat on stilts and across the bridge, right past the aggro level-9 troops. When you cross the bridge you’ll cut to the storyline movie that depicts Arias being arrested. Even the old men are on steroids in this game! Head back to your trainer (you no longer need to worry about stealth).

Remember the harlots, and wave at them if you like.Learning to ClimbYour trainer now wants you to spy from the safety of the rooftops. Head out to the yellow 'X' (don’t go to the grey one).

Steam

You will be passing four level-6 guards to your right along the way, so watch for them and sneak past. When you get to the designated yellow 'X,' you’ll see a bodyguard. He is standing at the climb point. Kill him and take a look at the ladder. You can click the ladder itself, or hit U on your keyboard and you’ll start climbing. When climbing, you can also shift left or right on ladders. However, in some cases you’ll fall off your perch if you do so.Climb up and fight your way through the line of guards on the rooftops.

Feel free to kill any chimney sweeps as well (take that, Poppins!). At the end, you’ll drop down to a ledge and another storyline movie will start. Enjoy some dialogue that would make any Middle School drama coach proud, and run/sneak back to your trainer (try not to aggro any guards, or just outrun them or zone back into the bar if you attract trouble).Your next step is to talk to your trainer, then to the boy at the door (why cant we just call him over?). Then head out to find Arias in the hills outside of Tortage. Leave through the main gates and turn left, up the hill.

Advance past the temple, across the bridge (over the hills and through the woods- err, scratch that). On the other side of the bridge, you’ll find Arias by the campfire. Speak with him and it's off to the Volcano Instance to find the slavemaster. Keep heading up the hill past Arias’ camp, fighting scorpions and NPC guards along the way (if you see panthers, you’ve taken a wrong turn). At the end of the path up the mountain is the volcano instance. Enter it.Volcano Instance (Part 1)Things start to get challenging here.

You can now die. Before you were like superman, while now you're more like the Tick. The guards/slaves are tougher. You can take two on at once, but three is likely to give you some hard times. Remember to watch for the patrols and pull with your ranged abilities (Bow, spells, etc). Don’t let casters go untouched. Kill them first! There are two paths in the Volcano instance.

One leads left up the mountain and then you can climb a ladder, and the other heads across a bridge and around the side. To maximize your experience earned during the nighttime solo play, I suggest you clear both routes. To get to the slavemaster, head across the bridge and follow the path, killing as you go (and whistling while you work). Note that the tents might have slaves waiting inside; get too close to one and you’ll aggro. Also, there are no respawns, so don’t worry and take your time.

There are several Ladders which lead down close to the lava (don't go into the lava, tick!). There is no reason at this time to descend any ladder, so just stay on the path.

Kill slavemaster and all NPCs for maximum experience (along both the upper and lower paths), and return to Arias. When you get to Arias and gain the experience reward, you should be at or very close to level 10. If you're not, go out and kill scorpions and panthers until you ding. At level 10, you should head down to the harbor. Turn to the right and look for a vendor standing on the pier. He sells uber (blue) magic armor and weapons (uber being relative to a level 10). Make any desired purchases and then return to the bar. Remember to sell excess loot and open up some inventory space.Time to completion: about 1.5 hours.Levels 11-15 OK, you're at level 10 and now you're halfway through the beginning zone.

See your class trainer in the bar and she'll tell you to get a fake scroll. Head out and follow your mini-map to the 'X' and hide! The 2 level-10 guards and the boss will pass. Follow them at a distance, until you reach the market area just before the harbor. The guards will stand in front of a door to Bartholom’s shop.

Wait until they walk away and then enter the shop. When you zone in, you’ll be facing a bar.

The scroll you came here to obtain is a white parchment sitting on the shelf to the left of the bar. Click it and then return to your trainer. Now it's off to Mithrell’s Mansion (which is in dire need of help from the folks at 'Trading Spaces'). Head up past Arias’ camp, to where you fought the level-5 guards (they shouldn’t agro anymore, not that it matters) when last you came through the area on your way to the volcano. Head past the guard captain and into the instance. Once inside, go upstairs first. Fight your way around until you find the gem, then click it to remove the magic shield.

Again, maximize your experience netted by killing everything you find upstairs. Then head back to the stairs and do the same to any foes lingering on the lower level. Find the scroll room (not hard) and replace the scroll by clicking it. Mithrell is in some sort of crazy trance and doesn’t aggro even if you click on her.Head back to trainer and sell off your inventory. Now you're off to the old sage Nadini (who I'm convinced has a thing for your character). Talking to her prompts another storyline movie, so enjoy the show. Then head to see Arias, who wants a vial of whore’s blood (a very hot commodity in the MMO world that should only be served with white meat).

Head back to the bar and you’ll find your old level-1 jungle babe, Cheerleader Casilda (who still sounds like she’s stoned). She gives you a vial of her blood and then it's back to the Volcano instance with you.In the volcano, you find that the guards got upgrades (they're now at level 11).

Head in, and this time you should follow the upper path that leads to the ladder. However, the moment is again a chance to maximize your potential experience points earned by killing all of the guards and slaves that have returned to the path where you first found the slavemaster. Then you should backtrack and climb to the top of the area to battle your way to the top of the volcano.

Replace the vial and enjoy the show. Things get really cool after that. As you run down the mountainside, remember to bring the marshmallows (smells like victory).Return to Arias, and by now you should be at or near level 13. Unfortunately, you need to be at level 15 to continue the questline. I tried searching and looking everywhere during Nighttime play to find more experience. There just isn’t any available. You could kill the panthers a bit, but that just seems like a very slow way to reach level 15.It's time to break out of the night, then, and find a way to grow two levels in the daylight's multiplayer mode.

This isn’t at all hard for PVE servers, but I do sympathize with those who are playing on the PvP servers. I have found that the best way for PvP server players to gain levels relatively safely-and for those who are on PvE servers which are just too crowded-is to just complete all Tortage city quests.

Most areas of Tortage zone are safe from griefers and you don’t have to worry so much about players griefing you at your rez spot. Doing all of the Tortage zone quests listed below will give you enough experience points to reach level 15:. Sancha: Outside Bar. Skeggi: Outside Bar. Sassan: Outside Bar.

Blacksmith: Outside Bar. Donus: Outside Bar. Junia: Outside Bar. Proxima: Market. Valerius: Noble District.

Laranga: Outside Gate. Ninus: Temple of MithraKEY QUEST: Proxima at the Market sends you to a personal instance at the lighthouse area, which is full of level 10-11 mobs that respawn quickly. You can easily run around those caverns safely until you reach level 15.For PVE servers that are not too crowded, it's quicker to just choose one of the outdoor instances to complete your leveling objective. Choose one (and only one), gather up all the quests, and head there. There are 3 main multiplayer instances chock full of quests and mobs to kill. Grab all the quests you can from the NPCs in Tortage.
